After becoming a registered nurse in 1998, I felt my job would be rewarding enough to make my life complete. I am sad to say that after working a few years in critical care and the emergency department, something was still missing.

I would often donate food, toys, and treats to local shelters in hopes to find the feeling of completeness, knowing I had done all I could do for what my passion truly was for...animals.

Bruce and Leslie Schofield moved to London KY in 1995. We had always lived in large cities where there was no problem with stray animals.

When we moved to London, KY we found stray animals everywhere. In our first year there we ended up with 8 dogs; all of them were strays. We found that if we passed an animal on the way to the store, it would be dead on the road on our way back home.....

Anita's world has been consumed with animal rescue work for as long as she can remember. She remembers often finding a kittens on the streets of New York when she was very young, nursing them back to health, and then with the help of her father, she would find them homes. Teenage Anita secretly housed and fed a dog in her parent's basement, only for her parent's to find out her secret days later!

Ben and I have been married since 2009 and have a shared passion for helping animals.

I adopted my first “pound puppy” after graduating college, an Australian cattle-dog mix named Ozzie. Ben and I thought Oz would like to have a playmate (though if he could talk, I think he would have said otherwise, ha!) so we adopted our crazy coonhound/collie mix named Toby.

Hi, I’m Amanda Cross and I’ve been a foster parent since March of 2012.

I’ve always loved animals and wanted to do something more to help them but was scared to try fostering. I thought I’d get too attached and never be able to give them up. And though I do get attached to every dog we bring into our home and it is sometimes difficult to see them walking away with someone else I am thrilled to know that because I chose to be a foster parent they were given the chance to find their forever family instead of being put to sleep at some shelter.

My name is Tami and I moved to KY from Cape Cod MA in Feb 2009. My husband Jay and I live in Versailles and, being on an old country road surrounded by farms, we quickly started to find out how people just dump animals off. Since moving here we have rescued dogs, cats, bunnies, birds and even a raccoon that was hit by a car.

I have always been the person who stops traffic to pick up the dog in the road or to rescue the stray cat....

Raph comes to a lot of our adoption events with her grandmother Sharon of Woodstock Animal Foundation.

Raph spends alot of time at the clinic and looks over all the rescues that come into the clinic,helps hold them when they are coming out of surgery, helps socialize kittens that are up for adoption.
